Tonight we finally got a chance to take some photos of Laynie in her Christmas Tutu. She had a blast most of the time. As you can see below, the flash had her a little ticked at some points. Rapid flash blasts gets to you I guess. Sorry Laynie. We love them and think they turned out great. What do you think?

Laynies photoshoot
I have been wanting to take some photos of Laynie for a while but have been so busy with school. I finally had a little time so we set up a little "ghetto studio" and did what we could with our one flashgun. Trying to bounce enough light from one flashgun to three different angles is a little tricky but they look good I think. Could have used a little more fill light on the one side though.
She likes to lean on the backrest of the couch so I figured we ought to take a few pictures. Don't worry, we were close by to keep her from going over.

Little Bundle Of Joy
Schools been keeping me very busy but I have managed to take a few pictures since my last post. I did family pictures for the Andersons from Mayfield a few weeks ago and finely got a break to get them all processed. It was a fun photoshoot and I thought we took some nice pictures. I was pretty happy with the results and hope they are too. You can look at all of them on my flickr page.
I have been wanting to take some more pictures of Laynie that isn't just at spur of the moment snapshot since we sat her down to take some around the 4th of July. Its been quite a while and we finally had a chance to take some. We ran up on the hill to get a picture of her in the fall leaves and managed to take a few but she was ready for a nap before too long and our photo session was cut a little short. That's alright though. Here are some that we took and also one that was a quick snapshot.

Been a While
Well, it's been a while since I posted anything on here so I thought it might be a good idea to update everyone on a few of the things I have been taking pictures of this summer. Since we have moved back for college, I don't even think I have clicked the shutter. I guess its been close to three weeks now so I need to get out and capture something. Anyway, thanks to everyone who voted for my picture over the summer. Here are some of my desert photos as well as some of Hillary's Senior photos. You can go to my flickr page to see more. Enjoy.

KSL Weekly Winner
I submitted a few photos to the KSL Pictureline photo contest last week and last night I was getting ready for bed and heard everyone saying that my picture was on the TV. Then I had people calling me saying they seen it too. I guess I won the weekly contest. I have been trying to win for a few years now. At the end of the month, they let everyone vote between 4 photos. The winner gets a new little camera and a spot in the KSL calendar. I would love to win so I hope it turns out well. I forgot to post the picture when I posted the last three pictures so you can find it here. Hope the link works.

Still not much new
Well finals have past and I thought I would have a lot more time to get out and take pictures but my wife is on bed rest and I've just been home holding down the fort (when we are not stuck at the hospital). I have got a new computer toy to play with though. It is a plug-in for photoshop called Bokeh from Alien Skins which you can find here. What it does is allow me to get the look of a large aperture lens (very blurred out backgrounds which makes the subject stand out more) without the cost of one. It does have its drawbacks though. I have to mask the subject in photoshop to keep the plug-in from blurring the wrong thing which isn't to bad except when it comes to hair. I hate trying to mask out stray hair and if I don't, it just doesn't look as convincing to me. Well anyway, here are a few examples from my trial of the plug-in. There are some better ones on the company website.
Some before and after pictures of Gavin and Hillary
It has this feature that will blur out things gradually which makes it nice for backgrounds that slowly increase in distance from the subject. You can see it in this pictures below.
