Well finals have past and I thought I would have a lot more time to get out and take pictures but my wife is on bed rest and I've just been home holding down the fort (when we are not stuck at the hospital). I have got a new computer toy to play with though. It is a plug-in for photoshop called Bokeh from Alien Skins which you can find
here. What it does is allow me to get the look of a large aperture lens (very blurred out backgrounds which makes the subject stand out more) without the cost of one. It does have its drawbacks though. I have to mask the subject in photoshop to keep the plug-in from blurring the wrong thing which isn't to bad except when it comes to hair. I hate trying to mask out stray hair and if I don't, it just doesn't look as convincing to me. Well anyway, here are a few examples from my trial of the plug-in. It has this feature that will blur out things gradually which makes it nice for backgrounds that slowly increase in distance from the subject. You can see it in this pictures below.

This was the view from the hospital room. I'm sure Britney thought it was nice of me to be taking pictures of the view while she was in labor. Sorry Babe.
